BOSTON – According to Boston Police, a man was fatally shot in Dorchester early Tuesday morning at the Holiday Inn Express.
Police officers were called to the hotel on Boston Street around 4:20 a.m. to investigate a report of a shooting at the South Bay Center.
They found a man in his 20’s killed in a room on the fifth floor.
Bill Evans, Boston Police Commissioner said someone pulled the fire alarm and it was a horrific scene.
According to Evans, it appears the man was targeted. At least two individuals ran away from the hotel after the gunfire.
Police are interviewing witnesses and looking at surveillance video.
Evans told reporters: “We’re trying to piece it together right now. It wasn’t random by any means. There have been no arrests”.
No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
In a statement to WBZ-TV, the hotel’s general manager said: “Boston hotel holds the safety, security, and well-being of our guests and employees as our top priority and concern. We are saddened by this news, and our thoughts are with the young man and his family during this difficult time. The hotel staff will continue to cooperate fully with authorities in their investigation. All further questions should be directed to the Boston Police Department.”
